Our Online Lives Through a Black Feminist Lens

An invitation to think and learn together about Blackness and what we create in our digital lives: the communities we build, the knowledge we develop, the joy we share and the futures we imagine. Created by Dr Kũi Mackay, it brings together her writing and research alongside courses, consultancy and facilitation.

About

What is Digital Blackness?

Digital Blackness is an acknowledgment of the fullness of our Black digital lives, centring our experiences and identities on our own terms. It is a celebration of our existence without deferring to or responding to the systems and structures that seek to define and limit us.

As a Black feminist researcher and practitioner working at the intersection of race, gender, digital culture and liberation, I have been part of Black online communities since 1998, long before they shaped my MSc and PhD research. I created this site so that knowledge can be shared, shaped and built upon together, whether through reading, learning or working with me directly..

Work With ME

Services

Black feminist thought is not abstract theory but a way of understanding & navigating the world. My work applies it wherever life happens, online and off.

Over 20 years across academia, NGOs, government, the private sector & community organising, I have developed the skills & expertise to move between ideas & practice, translating complex thinking into meaningful action.

From a single conversation to a longer partnership, we can find the right way to work together.
